1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage, pixel tags) work the same way for our purposes. This Policy covers all of them collectively as "cookies".
2. Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| __session, __clerk_* | Keep you signed in (set by our authentication provider, Clerk). | Strictly necessary | Session / up to 1 year |
| __stripe_* | Payment processing and fraud prevention on checkout pages. | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year |
| qrp_prefs | Remember UI preferences (e.g. last-used QR type, sidebar state). | Preferences | 1 year |
| scan-dedup | Server-side: a hashed identifier kept for 24 h on each QR to count one visitor as one "unique scan". | Analytics (first-party) | 24 hours |
We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels on our marketing or app surfaces.
3. Cookies on landing pages you publish
When you publish a QR-code landing page, business-card page or restaurant menu, your visitors' browsers will be served only the strictly-necessary cookies above. If you add third-party scripts to your own content (e.g. Google Analytics on a custom domain), those scripts' cookies are out of our control and governed by their providers' policies.
4. Controlling cookies
- You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Strictly-necessary cookies are required for the Service to function — blocking them will sign you out.
- Most browsers respect the "Global Privacy Control" signal. We treat it as an opt-out where required by law.
- For preference cookies (e.g.
qrp_prefs), clearing them resets the UI to defaults.
5. Changes
We'll update this Policy when our cookie usage changes materially. Significant changes will be announced on this page with an updated effective date.
